Ya know I'm wondering if he's been whitewashed by the media like a lot of their favorites? Re: the Spies, Lies and Superbomb TV show I mentioned elsewhere I also was thinking that McCarthy is a hero rather than the scum he's made out to be. IMO it has become obvious as well as factual (via the Verona papers) that McCarthy was simply right. I'm thinking that Communism is like the devil; their greatest achievement was to convince people that they didn't exist. |

Well...we do have socialists/communists today who have convinced people they don't exist. Simply by slightly changing the message and messenger, some of the packaging and a few details within the package.
Something tells me that Ghandi might not have fared too well in Syria today either. |

Just a thought how well Ghandi shows other past and present folks who made history; just because they did well at a few things didn't make them an expert at all things.

According to the movie the Indians didn't fare too well with the Brits at the beginning.

Oh my, I'm totally bushed, drained. Just watched a disaster movie - 10.5: Apocalypse and the name says it all. California is lost to the sea, a tsunami wiped out the Hawaiian islands, and Mt. St. Helens had a catastrophic eruption. But wait - that's not all; the destruction moves eastward and end product is that the U.S. continent is ripped in two and unfortunately ND, SD, Ne, Ks, Ok, and Tx are no more but under a sea as in eons ago. The techtonic plates are reforming rather than drifting and creating all this. I'll probably have nightmares tonight.
How can you have a happy ending to a movie about natural disasters of this magnitude? You can't. I suppose it solves all our current petty problems at least.

Stoessel was on tonight with an hour titled Illegal Everything. The main villian was the Fed. government but the sub villians were the EPA, HHS, state and local law enforcement and health departments. He's an avowed libertarian and some of his hour was devoted to legalization of drugs and prostituition. The way he presents it sounds convincing but I'm a bit dubious about some of his stuff but I like him a lot. I'm sure some of the stuff FNC lets him cover and ABC squelched is the reason he parted company with ABC.

Boy...I'm in one of my "wish I had cable" moods:
Scott Hunt wants to help you prepare for doomsday Sounds like an interesting show. Not because I want to prep for the world's end...I just find this stuff fascinating. Like the wood powered pickup truck. Heck....that might be a right practical idea!! |

Oh my! I watched a special titled Frozen Planet tonight. It is obviously well thought of as it was on a number of channels- Animal, NGC, Discovery, etc.. Excellent! Arctic and Antarctic wildlife and how they live and survive. Some scenes were about predators and prey, which I don't really like to watch, but most was about their making it year to year. Just very good. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/frozen-planet/

I saw the story but heard that she hadn't been confirmed yet altho your story says so. If so it's ludicrous and will cause all kinds of backlash I imagine. Whether confirmed or not it was pretty stupid to even consider her for the role, any role IMO.

We (Army guys) used to have an answer for that. But this is a family friendly site and not late night at the NCO Club...so I'll have to skip it.

An interesting program on PBS: Sunday nights "Finding Your Roots" with Prof. Henry Louis Gates. Ever since the dust up and his run in with the law I have not liked nor had much respect for Gates, but the genealogical program on various people is interesting ... to me.

Ah....I thought he looked familiar, but just assumed it must have been from catching some other segments. I was channel surfing last night and caught a bit of Rick Warren episode with Gates.
I hadn't watched much of the "Roots" since an a Reba McEntire episode. |

One and the same - Of the infamous "beer summit". I don't watch regularly but when I have I've always thought them interesting. Had one on Yo Yo Ma that was very good tracing his roots back centuries in China. And one on a Korean Jew (pretty unusual I'd think) female last night that was good.

Cal Thomas write up on the Finding Your Roots series. I've been recording and watching a lot of old stuff, all the way from The Honeymooners to The Rockford Files. I can only think of a handful I've missed. Sadly most stuff hasn't held up very well. With one exception; Perry Mason. Wow but it's still very watchable. Reading up on it apparently they even run a few episodes in law school as examples. |
