That is one obnoxious printer. Maybe they'll throw in a free one with your new rig so you can get rid of it?

Somewhere you mentioned the price of stuff like memory, drives, and such dropping so low...and maybe lower.
Boy, no kidding. I was browsing (window shopping only...honest) at a laptop on the Toshiba site. But it only comes with 1GB of RAM installed. Not much, even for one with XP Pro downgrade rights. And it can load 4GB total. Did a fast check at Cruicial. Wow. Couldn't believe it. 2GB stick....$23.00! Twenty three bucks... I hate to think how much I paid for my first memory upgrade years back. |

Yep, dirt cheap. My concern is that some of the chip fab guys will go out of business which means that with the next upturn bend over.

Today (4/8/2009) @ 2pm CDT Amazon will have a 2 hour (or until supply runs out) on Laptop hard drives. No more info than that but their one/two hours deals are usually pretty good so if you're around it might be worth a peak. |

TigerDirect has the Hitachi 320GB Sata for $69. I think that's their regular price. It's the one I got and seems like a good deal to me.

49.99 Almost cheap enough to keep a couple of spares around...just in case.

Turnkey, or at least they always seem to be cheaper than the drive/enclosure combo. But I do have a spare 750Mb drive laying around so if you see anything.... |

OK. I'd like to find one myself.
I've had both. I've had better luck with ready-made. Not sure why. (Maybe because I've usually gotten the cheapest (uh...most inexpensive) enclosure I could find. |

I had to hack the last one I got, it just wouldn't work but I found two leads that looked like they were incorrectly wired. Sure enough after swapping them around...it worked. But way too much work for what should have been plug and play. |

Ouch! I guess I've been fortunate to have had two good ones. Right now I have 2 internal type drives laying on my printer that are connected to my PC via wires. A case or two might come in handy.

Buy has the FD G-Force. Wish they'd just discount it and not bother with rebate(s):

Do you have any personal experience with those guys? I see them on sale a lot but I've seen some bad reviews....
