Same thing here. Thought I'd give him his own thread since we love him so much. LOL

Looks like Obama's soul-mate is at it again. I trust BO is taking notes.

Sigh.

Any idea how many photos Hugo has ordered so he can sign them and pass them out?  Probably will wind up in the same hands of those with pics of B.O. bowing to the Saudi king.

There are some "in general" things (or goals?) that I like about the new administration. A willingness to discuss issues, especially with policies that never have seemed to do a whit of good. Plus, he (Prez) does have the advantage of being young enough that they can't blame him personally for what happened before or soon after he was born.

But...shades of Jimmy Carter.  Obama (and his experts) don't seem to have a clue between what should initially be done in private and what should be seen in public.  Unless they do have a clue and are deliberately doing these things in public as part of their "Remake America" plan.

Wonder what book Obama will send to Chavez? (Probably one of those that he's written.)

President Hugo Chavez claimed this week that he and his Cuban ally Fidel Castro are more conservative than left-wing U.S. President Barack Obama, referring to the American government bailout and takeover of General Motors, Reuters reported.

The Venezuelan leader was giving a speech on the "curse" of capitalism on Tuesday as GM was filing for bankruptcy and preparing for Washington to take control of 60 percent of the 100-year-old symbol of American capitalism.

"Hey, Obama has just nationalized nothing more and nothing less than General Motors. Comrade Obama! Fidel, careful or we are going to end up to his right," Reuters quotes Chavez joking on a national TV broadcast.

Ol' Hugo...like a hurricane that never ends.

Last TV station critical of Chavez may be closed.

and even better

Chavez may end patents on medicine

"A song is intellectual property, but an invention or a scientific discovery should be knowledge for the world, especially medicine," Chavez said late on Saturday.

(Actually, he includes medicine, food production....anything that can actually be manufactured.)

Gee...hope Obama don't pick up on this...

Weird, just pain weird. Music but not medicine.

What with the celeb deaths lately it's made me realize even more how skewed our priorities can be.

He probably figures he can't eat, drink, wear, or otherwise make anything out of music. I'm sure if a way to make money (or power) off of music would occur to him..he'd change his view in a heartbeat.

Government theft.  Geeze.

Maybe he realizes that you don't want just anybody singing just anything they want to.  Could be hard on the ears.  LOL

I bet Pelosi is taking notes....or is at least very jealous of Chavez's ability to hold those people responsible for inciting the masses in his country.
Globovision, Last Anti-Chavez TV Station, Faces Shutdown

There was a pic in the news a few days back of Chavez and Oliver Stone at some film festival.  Nice to have good buddies. Maybe Stone and Moore can get together and combine their expertise on national and international matters.

Too bad Chavez is so doggone dangerous, otherwise he'd be funny.

Chávez Takes a Swing at Golf

Do you mean to tell me this is a people's sport?

Well, people play it and, as far as I know, horses and dogs don't so yeah, Hugo, it is a sport that people play.

What a freaking dolt.

Speaking of dolts, do ya think that Stone knows that under Chavez he'd be one of the first ones to the gulag?

Nope. He thinks he'd be sitting there next to his BFF helping make the world a better place.

I don't go out of my way to look up singers or directors that I widely disagree with. But there are some that if I notice who they are...I won't support their income or views by buying or renting their stuff.  Moore is one. Stone another.  (And quite a number of singers (sic) that I don't buy or listen to.)

A tiny little man

Now, why would I post this in this thread. Because the latest from this little tiny man is (from a different story):
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter says he is disappointed by Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez and concerned he is increasingly shifting toward an authoritarian regime.

Carter says Chavez initially helped the country by sharing national wealth. But Carter says Chavez is now consolidating political power, making it "almost impossible" for the Obama Administration to establish friendly relations with Venezuela.

His interview was published Sunday by Colombia’s newspaper El Tiempo.

The one aspect of him I could not reconcile was the Habitat for Humanity work.  I even helped on a few projects while I was in college.  When I read the background on it, things were cleared up.  He only politicized a good ministry and took it over from the guy who started it.

He is someone, IMHO, who should have been a male version of Mother Theresa (sp)....not a politician.

Compare our former president to a former justice of the supreme court:

Venezuela President Hugo Chavez turns on the charm for Courtney Love at Oliver Stone screening

I won't comment other than to try and remember the name of the band Miss Love formed in 1989.

I'm sure it was an appropriate name.

Had to look that up. I'm not a Love fan. Or her ex.  The bands name...strange. But I think the bio site I was reading misspelled it and left off the first three letters.

Hugo Chavez is telling Venezuelans to limit their showers to three minutes, because they are "not in times of Jacuzzi," the Daily Mail reported.

'Some people sing in the shower, in the shower half an hour.," the country's president said during a televised cabinet meeting. "No kids, three minutes is more than enough. I've counted, three minutes, and I don't stink."

Low rainfall caused by El Nino means water levels were at critically low levels.

"If you are going to lie back, in the bath, with the soap and you turn on the what's it called, the Jacuzzi ... imagine that, what kind of communism is that? We're not in times of Jacuzzi,' he said.

Wow...he actually used the "C" word!

Hehe, now I have a new phrase. Instead of being in times of high clover when things are good I'll be in times of Jacuzzi.
