Guess I'm getting too used to political correctness. My first impression was, "gee...what the heck kind of lunch did mom send with her kid that it was that bad?".

Then I realized....what?!  We have food police in schools!!  For crying out loud.  What next...gum inspection to make sure the little tykes only chew sugar free gum.  For crying out loud...is it now a "right" of government to inspect and approve lunches kids bring from home.

I think we need gun police to ensure that each kid is properly armed.

I defend that position by the fact that it's not as crazy as some of the other stuff they do.

What is great is that she was apologized to and it was shown that there was no problem with the lunch.  What is worse than stupid rules?  People that don't even comprehend what the rules say!

And, good link on that site I intended to post.  My girls were applauding the dad in it the other day:

The way the story read, and the moms comments...that's not the right apology IMO.
The North Carolina representative called the school which apologized, because in fact the lunch did meet all the USDA requirements.

They didn't apologize for playing food police and inspecting the lunch.

I'd like to see what the people who came up with that have in their house to eat, especially if they have kids.

There's another one I saw yesterday I think. In Massachusetts I believe. No bake sales and such allowed for fund raisers.

Found it. I'd just read the headline previously. You bet...I imagine the veggies and such will sell like wildfire..

In quest for health, Massachusetts bans the school bake sale - Hot Topics - timesunion.com - Albany NY

Hard to understand how things could have gone so wrong with supposedly educated people.

It just keeps getting better.

Utah School Fined $15,862 for Accidentally Selling Soda at Lunch

Fined? Who does the finer think pays the fine, the teachers? The administrators? What a racket.

That was a shorter version of the story. Want more of the government racket that will really fire you up?
The federally mandated law prohibits the sale of carbonated beverages after lunch is served....

The mandate allows for carbonated beverages to be sold before lunch, but restricts students from buying lunch, then purchasing carbonated drinks afterward.

“Before lunch you can come and buy a carbonated beverage. You can take it into the cafeteria and eat your lunch, but you can’t first go buy school lunch then come out in the hallway and buy a drink,” said Davis High Principal Dee Burton.

Principal Burton said he does not understand the law with rules that seem to be contradictory.

“We can sell a Snickers bar, but can’t sell licorice. We can’t sell Swedish Fish, we can’t sell Starburst, we can’t sell Skittles, but we can sell ice cream, we can sell the Snickers bar, Milky Ways, all that stuff,” said Burton.

Crazy. But it does provide full time employment for a zillion people to write stuff like that and then another zillion to figure it out.

It's no wonder gun sales are way up in our society.  Lots of crazy people out there.

Kinda off the subject topic but what the heck.

For my last birthday a surprise gift of a Nagant_M1895. A historic gun, not as cool IMO as the Mosin–Nagant rifle and I doubt I'll ever fire it, but cheap as dirt and kinda cool.

I'm working on a cool display case for it.
