Just can't wrap my head around what all these OS developers are doing to the desktop interface. Just take a look at what they are saying Win8 will look like:

Makes sense except they are messing with their own desktop, which for getting actual work done just doesn't make sense to me, not to mention that there are millions of people out there that just using the current interface is challenging enough. They'll be trying to figure out where the blue "e" on their desktop went to because it's the internet.

I think Don (or was it Bob) is right...a lot of it is change for change sake. Of course there is probably a practical (physiological or marketing) aspect to it. People get bored with the same old thing and renew their interest after changes. Like manufactures change their candy bar wrappers, or cola labels, et al.)
