The Warner Robins Patriot - 24 000 data files stolen from defense contractor in massive cyber attack
Strange. I saw this on the news Thursday night. CBS, I think. The web seems rather quiet about it. Most articles I've ran across were not nearly as detailed as the TV news. Most only mention one attack in which 24,000 files were stolen. I'm not sure if it was that attack or a previous one, the DoD security fellow (last name of Lynn) mentioned one hacker intrusion that was undetected for approximately six (6!) months. If memory serves me, there was also mention of hackers very active at non-military sites also...the U.S. banking/financial system and also the power/electrical grid system. |

Sounds like they use the same people as Sony's Playstation 3 division.

Several times I've wondered why they (our gov or security experts) don't just hire a bunch of these bored teen (or pre-teen) hackers and such. Pay them to do what they like to do and do best...hack into the hackers.

Just last night I was watching a TV ad for some OnStar device that can be installed in any car. Just for assistance, navigation...I'm not sure what else.
But it actually sounded appealing. So does some of the other technological advances in vehicles. However.... Hackers break into Subaru Outback via text message -- Engadget |

Might be a good reason to have a switch to cut off China from the internet ready to flip at a moments notice.

Very strange to me that those types of things would connect to the Internet.

Gee guys, I got this email today from this poor woman who randomly picked me off the web. It's so touching, you think I maybe should answer her?

I am sorry for bouncing into your privacy. You might not know the sender of this Mail. But i got your E-mail when searching files on reputable people online. I feel quite safe dealing with you through this medium. (Internet) has been greatly abused, I choose to reach you through it because it still remains the fastest, surest and most secured medium of communication let me start by introducing myself. Am Madam Sarah Appollo (Phd.Msc,Fsd). I am married to Engineer Appollo Coleman an Englishman who is dead. When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of 3 Million (THREE Million Great Britain Pounds Sterling which were derived from his vast estates and investment in capital market with a security company here in Athens-Greece. My Doctor told me that I have limited days to live due to the cancerous problems I am suffering from. I have decided to donate this fund to you and want you to use this gift which comes from my husbands effort to fund the upkeep of widows, widowers, orphans, destitute, the down-trodden, physically challenged children. Regards Sarah Appollo Private Email:sap321@blumail.org Athens-Greece |

I'm sure I cxould fulfill Madam Sarah Appollo (Phd.Msc,Fsd)'s last wishes of the upkeep of widows, widowers, orphans, destitute, the down-trodden,
physically challenged children. And possibly even line my pockets in the meantime.I suppose the difference in cultures spawns the use of those grandiose terms like "Madam" and of course her educational accomplishments plus "vast estates" and etc.. |

Are you sure she got the right Bob McG??
Sorry...just couldn't resist. Between that and her email address that starts with sap...that was a funny pitch. The ones I wonder about (but have never clicked on) are all these "delivery failure" notices from FedEx, UPS, online sale sites and more. Why I could probably have a house full of goods if I'd just click on them and their attachments.... ![]() |
