Maybe a silly question. Is it possible to have a batch file or a macro to shut sound off when Windows 7 shuts down?
Let's just say the sound knob on this Toshiba laptop is different. Even if I remember to turn sound down before shutdown...sometimes it comes on max volume when it boots...or even reboots. It can be quite...uh...disturbing to other people who are sleeping... |

Ah. Maybe this will work instead. I don't mind the startup and shutdown sounds...kinda pretty. I just turned them off in "sounds".

Yup, that's what I was thinking, just disable the startup and shutdown sounds.

Shutting off the sound isn't as easy as it sounds. (An update to my thread.) I can turn the sound off. But...I've found that the sound volume knob on the front of the Toshiba laptop is turned, even bumped accidentally, it turns the sound back on.
For a long time I thought it was my poor memory...thinking I'd turned it off in Windows....but having it blare full blast when booting up the next time. Ah well...so it goes. If it gets too annoying...I may just take and stick a headphone jack in the front connection. |
