Hi everyone !

This is my problem , my pc would not start normally  so I tried to restart it by reformationg the windows partition of the hard disk drive. Once the recovery is complete the startup repair cannot repair the computer automatically....So I have to choose a recovery tool between all them , the only way to fix it seems to use the command prompt ...And from there I don't know longer how to proced.
I don't know how to use it ...PLZ any one could tell me which commands do I have to enter to continue the reformating process ??? When I choose the command prompt it appears:
windows system32

PS: I used a cd vista to start the operation

Thanks in advance

Sirena - If you reformat the hard drive you will lose all you have on the computer.  Is there anything on it you would like to save?

Is the disk you have an upgrade disk?  And, did you go through a process like the one at this link? -

Hi Randy , no it wasn't like this process in the link.

First off all the system didn't want to reinstall with the windows xp so I used the vista and it started like this
Uploading files
Recovery manager than an error 1005 hp appears I clicked cancel to continue so
Recevory complete than like I told before the startup repair wouldn't repair the pc automatically so
Choose a recovery tool :                           startup repair
system restore
windows complete pc restore windows memory diagnostic tool
command prompt
                                                            application...pc 32bits
None of them worked out but the command prompt which I don't know how to use it

Sirena, it sounds like you are trying to fix a Windows XP installation on your computer buy using a Windows Vista disk.  That will not work.  The recovery options are for repairing the same operating system that is on the hard drive already.  Also, if you were able to install Vista on the computer, it would probably quit working after a short period of time without having a product key for Vista.  The key on your computer will only work on Windows XP.

Hi Randy, the problem is finally solved thanks god Big smile ; the pc is fixed now thanks to a cd windows 7 that a friend borrowed to me. But of course I have lost all my documents unfortunately and one thing that I don't understand the capacity of D: and C: are almost full.

Well, at least it's working for you.  Maybe you can find some files on the drives that you can delete to make some room.
