Saw that, but the first that gave a cause. Face (when blond and fresh) looks familiar.

Well, I'd be thanking God for a miracle for sure after that.

Yeah. Maybe it's a good thing we embalm here in the U.S.  I can't imagine waking up and having it sink in that you've been buried alive. Shudder.

Sounded like a heck of a guy. At the bottom of the story text are a couple other links for more info if interested.

Wow. Merlin Olsen. OK...didn't know him personally (big surprise huh? HeeHee)  but just invoked a lot of memories....Olsen, Deacon Jones...the Fearsome Foursome....

I think it wasn't his passing on that grabbed my attention...it was his age..69... Kind of "sticker shock" I guess...has it really been that long....seems just like yesterday..

Wow is right.

I had another shock a couple of days ago when that kid actor died...I had just watched a movie he was in a week before and to see his current picture...well.

I recall 'ole Merlin fondly.  Mostly in Little House on the Prarie and Father Murphy (was that the name of that one?) but his football era sparks memories also.  I recall when he was the color commentator too.  He seemed a nice enuf fellow.  I tell you .... there are more and more each year, naturally, younger and much younger, than me falling by the wayside.  (As the saying goes "If I'd a knowd I wuz gonna live this long I'da took better care of mysef")

He had done a lot of stuff, remember him from when I was a kid in "Red Planet Mars" and then the Saturday morning show Fury.

But Airplane was his best, still love to watch that movie.

In addition to being brothers another bit of Arness tirvia; he was the creature in The Thing.

Yep. Fun shows. Hate to think of what a modern version would be like.

There was some online survey I filled out a few days back, with a question something like..."What is your idea of being able to "stop and smell the roses".

I had a lot of thoughts but finally put down, "To be able to watch a modern remake of a classic movie with the family and not worry about foul language, nudity and sex, and explicit violence".

Ever have a particular obit that really makes you pause and think about the person and the hereafter?

Saw one yesterday. A guy who used to work at the printing place where I did.  He moved on to bigger and better things maybe 15 years ago.   Died of cancer on Friday; age 44.

He was a solid stocky intimidating type of guy.  God only help a new employee if they didn't catch on the first time. And if it was the type of person who was extra slow at learning, Dave would ride them so they wouldn't come back the next day.  He had no intolerance for other people's imperfections (even strangers he'd run into).

So now I'm left wondering if time and cancer changed him.  Or if he is standing before the Pearly Gates....hearing St. Peter play back to him what he used to scream at those he deemed below his standard: ("You're a waste of oxygen. A waste of my oxygen. A waste of everybody's oxygen. You're worthless.  Why don't you just do everybody a favor and die and quit wasting deserving people's oxygen.")

So I'll say a prayer for him.  I didn't care to be around him at all. But hope judgment has more forgiveness for him than he had with others.

Goodness...first I've heard of him for years.

A good gift from Canada (born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan).

Seemed to be a great guy.  "Kids Say The Darndest Things"  was the most enjoyable aspect of his TV shows I remember.  My Dad especially enjoyed what the kids said.
