LOL! I get what you mean, even surgeons that save people's lives don't have to eat stuff.

Still early but the few Atlantic tropical storms that were out there just fell apart, nothing cooking at there at the moment. There is one TS off the west coast of Mexico and headed west.

Stunning NASA infrared imagery of Hurricane Igor reveals a 170 degree temperature difference If it's really 170 that's a huge differential and indicates a monster storm. |

The satellite photos I've seen are a classic classroom example of a hurricane. Big 'ole eye that one photo showed right down thru the eye and you could see the ocean at the surface. Bermuda is the most likely target of this one and they have had a rough hurricane season already it seems. BTW Karl, there is a TS out in the western Caribbean forming up now that has been named for you. Not "Stormin Norman" but "Calamitous Karl".

Cool.
FWIW: Stormin Norman works at the local Dollar General store. And unless you have lots of time...avoid his line. LOL |

Checkout registers - Gossiping, couponing, 32 items in the 10 items or < aisle, all are pet peeves. (I've been known to use a hi vaue coupon or two but I'm speaking of those with envelopes full of 'em or flyers with "We'll match their price" folk) |

Well, there's Paula which popped up in the Gulf and might hit the Keys but hardly the disaster season that was predicted. The Farmers Almanac did a better job. And forget the big bucks they bring down there's that zillion dollars in forecasting software. I really trust them to forecast a .5 degree change in temps 60 years from now. |

Richard has formed and is expected to enter the gulf. Projected paths are, uh, all over the map.

Odd, I just read the latest Public Advisory about Richard and it's current movement is southeast. A wanderer for sure. It did say that it's forecast to make a 180 deg. right swing and head NW soon. After Ike I have become a little timid about wishing for tropical weather to come this way for the rain benefits. Gonna be awhile before this 'un makes it's mind up.

Rare for us to get one this time of year, the winds usually blow it towards Florida but wow, predictions from Mexico to Orlando make me wonder.

RIP Richard. Tropical Depression Richard all but done Looks like it'll hit the Mexico/Texas border as a low pressure area. Might still get some rain out of it but heck, apparently it didn't dump much as a hurricane/tropical storm. |
