Just trying to think like a Netflix exec. if your experience is anywhere near national  averages I'd be seriously taking up issues with the USPS.  I'd think that could damage the bottom line a good bit.  Added mailing costs and disc replacement.

I think a large chunk of it is shoddy products in the first place that Netflix is dragging their heals on replacing. When a disc has rot and starts to delaminate it's much easier for it to break.

When leads me to believe their big push to go streaming. That's got to be a huge inventory of discs, many of which are probably past their replacement time.

I bet someone from Blockbuster complained about the slot, and if they did the Post Office should have just called it a DVD mail slot.

Bah, the new Conan was a disappointment to me, had high hopes.

The reviews I read kept me away.  Won't bother with it now for sure.

"Cowboys and Aliens" will be out December 6th on DVD.  That should be a good one.

I was deeply saddened. OTOH Super 8 was top notch.

Wow....Conan must have been really really bad. How much of a requirement is their for a "Conan" (or Red Sonya , et al) movie?  Lots of muscular men and women, with violent temperaments and constant drinking, fighting...and...action. LOL

We just finished Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Excellent, IMHO. Non-stop action from start to finish. Sigh...one of these days...got to get a wide screen TV.

The only downside was the start of the DVD. This one had the 'menu' functions disabled during previews. Not only were menu choices disabled to prevent skipping and going straight to play...but fast forward wouldn't work either till the previews were done.  The kids thought I didn't know how to work the remote...till they tried it themselves. Ha!

I liked Stranger Tides as well. I thought the original Conan, while not very true to the original, was pretty good. This reboot was, well, just bad.

That's too bad. The only thing I saw were some still pics...which looked very good.

You'd think it'd be easy, blood, more blood, lots of blood, muscles, women in skimpy attire, etc. but the guy who played Conan didn't have any of the "charm" that Arnold brought to the original and the story just didn't do anything at all to make the characters someone that I wanted to root for.

On the other hand I liked just about every character in Super 8.

I don't think there are any really scary bloody movie buffs here but just in case The Descent is pretty doggone good. It's a well worn theme but done up very well plus who doesn't dig chicks with picks.

And talk about scary, The Devil's Double was more cringe worthy than The Descent since this guy was real. Still very well done.

Watched
Ip Man and Ip Man 2 last night.  If you don't mind subtitles, it was an underdog good guy comes out on top pair of movies.  And from the "based on a true story" plot genre.

Just saw a poster at Walmart yesterday that Cowboys and Aliens comes out Tuesday. And yes...I'll probably invest in it for our library.  I've been waiting as anxious as a child for Christmas morning....

I've been looking forward to this one too.  My youngest, who knows my tastes better than anyone, thought I would like it as well.  Have it on order at a local store.  They have the new DVDs available for a good price if you order them ahead of time.

Shoot. I should check at the grocery. Local grocery. I can't remember the name of it. It's a local small franchise...not Red Box.  But they get them before Netflix, Redbox, etc.

The Ghost and the Darkness - action adventure in 1890s East Africa based on a true story.  A keep you on the edge of your seat movie and older but kind of obsure so you might not have seen it.  Val Kilmer and Micheal Douglas.  Quite good.  http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/The_Ghost_and_the_Darkness/540289?trkid=2361637
