I saw a trailer of this movie and the writeup makes it sound like a winner.

Enjoyed The Adjustment Bureau. Again, probably when compared to the rest of the stuff I've seen this summer. Acting was only okay but a good story that you could take as simply a love story or something more if you wanted.

We watched Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 1 tonight.

Actually...very glad I didn't go the the theater. Sure not my favorite of the series. And truth be told, I've been a big fan of many things in the series...except for Harry Potter himself.

Source Code was okay to pretty good but Season of the Witch was a real stinker. Wow, what has happened to Nick Cage? Time was he was in pretty good movies but his last half dozen or so have all been stinkers.

I watched Harry Brown last night.  It was described on the  dust cover as "A gritty vigelante thriller" and I'd say about double 00 grit.  Slow starting but it soon picks up into the grit and scum of English low life.  Chock full of the F word and profanity in general but quite good overall.

Don - I agree with you on Nick Cage.  Used to be that his movies were mostly winners.

Bob - You write a great review.  I saw that one and you nailed it.  It's one of those I like to watch while family is taking a nap.

Just popped up on streaming but I'd burn a DVD rental to see it.

Winter's Bone

It's not the usual to be sure and I'm kinda guessing here as I'm 40+ years removed from my rural Arkansas relatives but while it's fiction I expect it's probably not too far off.

Also I was surprised to find the young actress who plays the main character wasn't an Ozarks native but had been in a lot of stuff, very well done, I figured she was just playing herself but nope.

(Later edit): If you're going to watch it hold off on checking out the other movies the actress has appeared in, bet you won't know even though one or two of them I've bet you've seen. I sure didn't but it was a headslap when I found out.

I added it to my IQ.  Sure wish I could hook the TV up to the PC...without it being a pain in the butt.

It's a good movie or at least interesting.

What kind of inputs do you have on the TV?

Sanyo (I'll have to check the spelling.)  It's a PITA. The TV only has one input...for a cable connector.  Everything else, like when a girlfriend of the youngun brought a Wii over to play...I have to jump through hoops using the inputs on the combination DVD/VCR deck.  Some things have been such a challenge with connectors and settings...it's just not hardly worth the stress.

You might want to look into getting a 3 way coax switch.

I've used them in the past and they work as long as you remember that the reason you're not getting a single is because the switch is set to some other input (grin).

Cool. That's cheap. Hmm. I used to have an A/B switch I'd gotten for my mother-in-law.  Probably still have it....maybe. Can't remember the connection type though.

Probably no more expensive at Walmart or Radio Shack. I've cobbled together all kinds of input stuff in the past, if you were close I have a big old plastic tub full of stuff. It's kinda fun to go through it every now and then as I haven't thrown any of it out for close to 30 years now.

Just finished "Unstoppable" with Denzel Washington.  My sweetie and I enjoyed this one very much.  I highly recommend it.

Winter's Bone was very interesting.  Describes a world I've never even glimpsed.  Very believable.

I have The Lincoln Lawyer to be watched tonight.  Don gave it a Thumbs Up and the reviews look good to me.

Shoot. I was going to check at Walmart (Redbox) tonight for Unstoppable. But as usual it had people around it and I plumb forgot.

The Lincoln Lawyer.  Good IMO. Pretty L.A in setting and attitudes but good nonetheless.  As one commenter said "It would make Agatha Christie proud".  And it's twists and turns probably would.

We watched Silverado last night. Along with Tombstone one of the best westerns made in the last 25 years IMO, kind of a throwback vs. "westerns" like The Unforgiven and Dances With Wolves.
