We watched true "True Grit". What an excellent movie. John Wayne was the better of the two Cogburns, but the new movie as a whole was outstanding. Definitely a keeper.

Kind of surprising was Brick. Set in high school it is a clever twisty well written and acted noir mystery set in a modern day high school. The main character could just as easily have been Sam Spade yet the writer/director captured the HS feel of things (at least contemporary high school as I understand it, my main connection was the social structure which I doubt has changed since day one). So it was weird hearing the kind of dialog the kids were slinging around yet at the end of the day it really worked. Available on DVD and streaming. |

Brick sounds like a fun one. It's nice to run across some real creative writing.
Watched an older one tonight - Silverado. Had some big names and was just a good old western. Quite fun. |

Just watched "The Simple Life of Noah Dearborn" with my Sweetie. Sidney Poitier did an excellent job in this one, IMHO. Gave it 5 stars.

I saw Noah was going to expire on 7-1-11 and so gave it a try. Got Yogi added to the list, I had forgotten about it coming out and wanted to give it a look see.

Yeah, under my queue, under the Instant tab, it puts a comment if the video is going away. Right now "Return to Me" and "The Streets of Larado" are available until 7-1-11. "The Simple Life of Noah Dearborn" had the same comment when it was on my list.
I only see this on the website, on my computer, not on our Blu-ray Player Neflix menu. |

Oh...I'll have to check. We watch so few movies that actually I'm not sure it's worth the price anymore. (Except I like their vast library.)

I don't know if it has been mentioned or if anyone has watched any of the Narnia series but I just watched the latest - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The last of a bunch of classic old time fairy tale like stories that are just delightful. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0980970/
Hmm, delightful sounds a little, uh ...... well anyway they are fun and .... just fun.

I don't think we've seen that one yet, and I'm not sure why. We love the series.

I was just thinking about what the Narnia movies reminded me of - it's those "unhealthy and bad for kids" Grimm's Fairy Tales of my childhood. Lots of ogres, magical beings, spells, and heroes .... all that good stuff.

We have thoroughly enjoyed the new versions of The Chronicles of Narnia movies. When the girls were younger the BBC versions were a delight as well.
