Masterpiece Mystery!: Sherlock: Series 1

I've seen just about all the Sherlock movies from Basil Rathbone to present and this one is about as refreshing as it gets. The premise is that it's present day London with cell phones, computers yet they still manage to capture the whole Sherlock Holmes personality and aura. Well acted, well shot and very clever with no plot twists that made me feel like I'd been cheated.

Available on DVD and streaming.

That looks promising .. worth adding to my queue. Odd thing at the Netflix site - I click "Add to my Queue" and I get an error message that says it couldn't complete the request ... but it does.  An Error message that's in error.

Don - Nice find.  That looks like one for the whole family to enjoy.  (Our oldest is coming home for a few days.)  Added to the queue.

Don mentioned Secretariat back in January as flawed - I loved itafter watching tonight.  Something about horse hooves beating the track that gets to me.  I've been to the track not a lot but when I have been (Ruidosa Downs in New Mexico and Louisiana Downs in Shreveport) I have loved it!  Even won a few bucks last visit to La. Downs a long time ago with my brother.  If I lived closer to a track I might even become a railbird.

We've got it in from NetFlix but just have not had time to watch it.  I have always enjoyed horse racing stories.  I really enjoyed Seabiscuit, that came out not too long ago.  Seems they are always underdog-comes-out-on-top story lines.

A horse with a problem, a has-been trainer, an owner (if a woman, all the better) that must find some way to pay off the mortgage, ..... what better fodder for a plot for an underdog story?  A winner in my book every time. Big smile

I hope we get around to watching it tonight.  Our oldest is home.  She would enjoy it very much.

Watched "Secretariat" tonight - outstanding!  Underdogs, horses, crazy supporting cast - what more could you want?

Watched "The King's Speech" this weekend.  Excellent movie!  Very good drama.

Also watched "Megamind".  Funny twist to super hero vs super villain.

We just finished "The King's Speech" also. Just great. One of the best in a long time.

So I did a little reading. Interesting:
History of the Monarchy > The House of Windsor > George VI

Lionel Logue - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yeah, I looked into George 6 also.  Good guy and a stalwart during the war.  I was interested in how the transfer took place to current Queen Elizabeth and found out.  It was interesting.

I watched Les Miserables over the weekend and for the drama lovers, you will like it I think.  Liam Neeson and Uma Thurmond.  Early 1800s France.  This is not the musical.  http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Les_Miserables/5670503?trkid=2361637#height1994

Hmm. I'll have to think about that one. "Not the musical" is the key phrase that might get me to watch it.

Heh heh - And it only has one scene in the sewers of Paris.  Smile  ...... How to condense a 1400 page novel into 2 hrs. 13 min..  I guess a picture really is worth a 1000 words, eh?

I must say that I think I like the rebooted True Grit more than the original.

I dunno if Jeff Bridges makes a better Roster but had I been  John Wayne I'd of shot Kim Darby. The new kid acts rings around her.
