I imagine you have all seen this kind of old movie - Patch Adams, but if not I enjoyed.  Funny, very sad at times, kind of improbable but based on a true story (truth is stranger than fiction).  Robin Williams who is liked by some, some not.  I thought it was a good movie.

Actually...I haven't...except for a few minutes...which I can't remember why it was only a few minutes.

Love Robin Williams.

The Negotiator (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120768/) - Samuel L. Jackson and Kevin Spacey:  Chock full of action, suspense, intrigue, and profanity. Intense!  It'll hold your attention I think.  I started it last night after the basketball games but couldn't finish due to time.  I just finished it.

No idea what made me think of this movie. Saw it on DVD soon after it was released. It's probably better with a group of people...especially younger who like really silly stuff. Silly and fun. My daughter and I had  much fun hooting and hollering at the improbable action and cliches.

Sounds like a good father daughter one.  My youngest and I enjoyed "Avalon High" this weekend.

We also watched an old John Wayne flick, "Wake of the Red Witch".  He was a sea captain in it.  All three of us enjoyed it.

Pistachio Disguisey - Ah, that is an appropriate name for sure.  Sounds like a farce.

Watched Tron Legacy last night and it was okay. Couldn't help but compare it to the original which was, for lack of a better word, more charming. Might be because it was, to me, unique when it came out, pretty much the first of it's kind but it seemed to have some funky youthful energy that the 2nd didn't have.

Or maybe I'm just an old curmudgeon who thinks that 64 bits is just too many.

heh, heh...  In my curmudgeonly opinion, it is too many, and I can't bring myself to watch it.

Oh, don't get me wrong, it's worth watching. At the very beginning it's a little painful with the bit about how Encon is evil because they won't give their software away for free but that turns out to be totally unnecessary to the eventual story and the rest of the eye candy is worth watching.

Just not as much fun as I would have liked.

This is a very obscure one and very hard to get (not available on Netflix) but IMO is just about as funny stupid as it gets.

Americathon

Made in 1978 (released in 1979) it's set in 1998,

America is out of oil. No one drives but instead bikes, walks, etc. all in running suits.

American is deeply in debt to the tune of $400b (if ONLY!) to a guy who runs NIKE and he wants his money back.

Commie China has gone capitalist and has opened a chain of fast food joints.

Inflation is rampant and a Commie Coke at the commie fast food joints is $50.

The president is a doofus and to raise money they hold a telethon.

You just can't make some stuff up.

Ratcheting down a bunch of notches I watched The Simple Life of Noah Dearborn.  Not action packed but a pretty good drama with some outstanding woodwork produced by the hero Noah (no electricity involved here).  It was just a small part of the whole story as was the puppy but both were to my liking.  A good watch overall.  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0200138/

The storyline sounds good. I didn't know he had made a movie lately. (1999 is "lately" in my life. LOL)

Same here as to '99 being lately.  Tonight after Upstairs Downstairs I watched a Netflix documentary from Ken Burns about Congress.  Interesting and educational and eye opening.  Maybe our current one really isn't the worst one after all.  I think if we could choke off the lobbyist maybe things could get back to "Of the people, by the people ..... etc. ............

Oh brother, where art thou was tonight's watch.  A movie by one of Don's favorite film producers/directors The Coen Brothers.  Way off beat and strange and funny.  Based on Homer's Odyssey altho you couldn't have proved it by me.  Chock full of "meaty" characters. It had some catchy old south country music in it.

I love O'Brother.

This weeks big watch for me was The King's Speech. I wasn't expecting to like it but I did very much.
