I watched a gripping drama last night titled As Far as My Feet Will Carry Me - a German film that is subtitled but don't let that put you off, when you get absorbed the subtitles don't seem to matter or bother. Based on a true story of a German soldier at the end of WWII held captive in a wa-aay far east Siberian labor camp at Yakutsk, his escape and subsequent travels over about 8000 miles (on foot) back to his home and family in Germany.  It took about 7 years from 1945 'til about 1952.  I was beat by the end of the movie.  Wink

Know what you mean Bob.  I really get into the movies I watch too.

Don - If you had not posted that Karate Kid 2010 was worth seeing I would not have given it a second thought.  The first one was pretty good, but a remake seems like it would be feeble at best.

As far as my feet.....sounds interesting. At my last Army post in Germany...we rented a small apartment from an old lady with a similar story.  She didn't walk as far but no idea exactly where she started. But she walked, she said, just one step ahead of the advancing Soviet army as the German retreated.

Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue - Now I'm not posting this to recommend this to you guys (altho you might enjoy it) but I was in WalMart and just happened by the electronics dept. where this movie was playing on some demo TVs on special.  I watched it for about 4 or 5 min. and thought "Perfect for a seven year old granddaughter!" so I asked the clerk if she knew the title ... she did, I said "I'll take it".  I'm debating whether to open it and play it or not as we speak.

I watched it .. Tongue .. and it was fun, especially if you believe in fairies.  I tried football but couldn't get into the Oklahoma State vs Louisiana Lafayette game or the Rutgers game so what's a feller to do? Ermm

Not a movie for adventure, action, chases, or education but a fun watch - Serendipity.  A kind of romantic unlikely tale with John Kusak and Kate Bekensale and entertaining for about an hour an a half.

Another off the wall pick off Netflix for me was Shall We Dance.  Richard Gere, Jennifer Anniston, and Susan Sarandon.  Turned out to be a fun and delightful movie.  Not heavy for sure and a number of odd and entertaining characters.  Didn't get great reviews on IMDB and in the 6s but I thought it rated at least an 8.  I liked it.
Might  be considered a chicky flick but I was right in there enjoying.

We watched Prince of Persia last night.  Maybe a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Still not sure how to call it. Enjoyed parts of it, parts not. Not what we expected. And yes, LOL, digs against taxes...and also about small-businessmen, the government, and such.

Documentary - Thomas Jefferson - 3 hour CD that will surprise and maybe delight you in part, maybe destroy some of your illusions about the man in part.  I have only watched the first half so far but it is really interesting, at least to me.
Sometimes I hesitate to put documentaries in my queue because action, adventure, and dramas are usually so entertaining but I'm usually always glad when I get and watch them.  Betcha you'll like it.

Two good ones.

She's Having A Baby. Kinda 80s but another good John Hughes "yeah, families are crazy but it all works out and they're really okay" movie. I like the family slant to all his movies.

Shattered Glass. I've seen this three times now and it's very well done. Good story, good acting and wow, what scum Glass was.

Ever notice how the reporters that make stuff up are liberals? Well, on the other hand since 99% of all reporters are liberal.....

You've probably seen a zillion John Hughes movie. They are whacky and have their schmaltzy moments but still, it's always about family.
