This just opened yesterday, but sounds like a good one to put on my list! ROFL  (A coworker who loves this sort of thing was telling me about it yesterday. A preview he saw about a piranha jumping up and pulling someone off a dock. Cool!)

Piranha 3D
Every year the population of sleepy Lake Victoria explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for Spring Break, a riot of sun and drunken fun. But this year, there's something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers; a new type of terror is about to be cut loose on Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the areas new razor-toothed residents. The film stars Jessica Szohr (Gossip Girl), Steven R. McQueen (The Vampire Diaries), Elisabeth Shue, Jerry OConnell, Ving Rhames, Adam Scott, Richard Dreyfuss, Christopher Lloyd, and Kelly Brook.

It sounds kinda cheesy but then so does Lake Placid and it's one I watch about once a year. What a hoot.

Yes...it certainly does sound cheesy...but then...I've from Berne. HeeHee

Naturally our conversation went from Piranha to other classics like Tremors, Anaconda, and so on.

Another two I like but I must say that Tremors is a classic for me.

Hmm....might be time for a Tremors marathon. I don't know if I watched all four.  One of the sequels was decent and one I kept rooting for the Graboids

Can't remember for sure if it was one of the Tremors movies, but I got a kick out of the one where the two guys were running with the critter underground zooming after them and they jumped into some kind of a concrete basin and the critter slammed into the side of the basin.  They were bantering back and forth with each other as they ran.  That was a hoot.

Has anyone heard of the new Hawaii Five O TV show coming?  The preview I saw looked great, although it's nothing like the old show.

The graboid running into the concrete was the first Tremors. I thought the real charm of the Tremors thing was Earl and Val (?) and, as I recall, Kevin Bacon didn't return for any of the others.

Speaking of good after having reread the book I rewatched Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy. What a great book and TV mini-series. I think I like it more now than I did then.

I've seen some teasers for H5O but not even anything more than the voice over during golf (about the only network stuff I watch).

Anyone see The Proposal?  I watched last night and thought it was funny and worth a watch.  'Ole Betty White still has "it" at 89.

Haven't seen either.

Seems I read that White is up for some award for hosting SNL.

My youngest showed us the preview on IMDB.  If it shows up on Hulu, I'll be watching it.

Loved The Proposal!  We even bought that one.  Betty White was a hoot in it for sure.  Loved the part where Sandra Bullock was waving the dog around in the air.

I really, really wanted to like this movie, it had all the parts; Christopher Walken, father/son and a road trip movie but ultimately it just didn't do it for me.

$5 a Day.

Good, but watched and mostly forgotten except for Walken's hair which seemed to have a life of it's own.

Just out yesterday. A disappointment.

I did catch Bringing Up Baby on TCM the other night. Now there's a funny movie.

A kind of oldie ('94) but I enjoyed it.  Nicholas Cage and Bridget Fonda in It Could Happen to You. Based on a true story.  NY cop wins 4mn lottery and splits with a coffee shop waitress because of a promise the day before.

It's a feel gooder (eventually) and a portrait in contrast - His bitchy, brassy, loud, greedy wife and the opposite in the other female of interest.
