Saw Angels and Demons the other night. Can't say that it was great but I think it was easier on the Church than the prior movie (DaVinci Code?). Mostly I enjoyed it because it's a pretty good yard though not nearly as good as National Treasure. |

I dunno if this will be your cup of tea but I thoroughly enjoyed Julie & Julia. Meryl Streep as Julia Child did a great job and by the end of the movie I was almost thinking I was watching Julia herself. It's a parallel story about Julia's adult life and a corresponding story about a young couple where the wife is kind of emulating Julia and blogging about it as she goes along. A fun story.

Cool! It's on our list but we opted for Public Enemy as our new one this week and it was very good. I think the movie was probably historically inaccurate but still a pretty good gangster movie. I didn't know it but Dillinger was a native son of Indiana... |

...and believe it or not...is still regarded by many, fondly, as a local home-town hero.

I went back and read his bio and wow, he did get good publicity but it was bad from grade school on. Not a nice guy even if you threw out the bank robbing.

Can't remember the details. I "think" he did help some folks out...old folks(?)...financially. And was somewhat regarded as a modern day Robin Hood. Along with sticking it too the banks, gov, and of course...carving a pistol to escape from jail only added to it.

...while overlooking both the one guy that they know Dillinger killed along with the dozens that his gang killed.

I'm betting, like Bonnie and Clyde, people just liked the idea of sticking it to the banks.
So instead of B&C and Dillinger these days we have Dodd and Frank. (Sorry, previously posted in the wrong thread). |

Too many tabs, too little time (actually in my case...too little brain cells).

Finished watching J&J last night and enjoyed it very much. I kind of wished the whole movie had been about Julia. Left me wondering; what did Julia really think of the blog? |

Interesting. I always thought she was a hoot...enjoyed her shows.
Also interesting how many "old timers" are not impressed with this generations “Flinging around four-letter words..." |

I'm going to have to watch Julie & Julia. Meryl Streep seemed to have done an excellent job playing Julia.

Watched J&J this afternoon. It was a nice break after doing a front disk break job on my wife's car. Most enjoyable! It was surprising that the movie even covered the fact that Julia didn't care much of the book.

I watched The Illusionist tonight. Pretty good. A little far out and fairy tale-y but interesting and watchable. Jennifer Beil (sp?) and some guy.
Early 1800s Vienna is the setting.
