Speaking of Hussein and his tax rate they always say "well, gee, he thinks it's too low too but he's just following the law". Balderdash. He could just not claim certain things he thinks should be removed. For instance he not claim charity contributions. Sure people could then say hey, he's cheap, no charity but he could always release a statement saying here's who I gave money to but I choose to not claim it because my taxes were too low.

Ditto the foreign taxes paid deduction.

And I couldn't find it (reading tax returns is one of my least favorite things) but I expect he took the deduction for his kids schooling.

Now I don't have a problem with this, I think it's every American's duty to pay as little tax as they possibly can but then I'm not calling for more "fairness".

Actually the above isn't true. If a deduction is the least bit questionable I don't take it. I'm scared spitless of the IRS. In my case just the cost of dealing with it isn't worth it but that's just me.

I'd of liked Romney to say to Obama:

"Hey, you're one of the 1%. You have more money than 99% of the people here. So do I. 

The difference between us is that I earned it by building stuff and creating jobs. That's not something I'm ashamed of. "

Gads, that's another one. "Fair". Sheesh, what a loaded word that can mean anything you want it to.

Life ain't fair, some people have more, unless they're a politician or some other thief they earned it, they didn't take any of yours. 

There's a reason envy is a sin, it's poison to the soul and LEADS to theft because once you start believing that they took it from you and it's your's by right you'll steal it...or vote in somebody who'll steal it for you.

At least back in the old, old days you could have use income averaging if you had a windfall any single year. No more.

What is it? The top x% (is it 1%) pays 82% of all income tax? We'll kill the goose this way and politicians just keep beating them up and we keep voting for them.

I get a kick out of tolls that were there to pay for the initial build and then rarely go away as then they are needed for maintenance.

At least we finally got rid of that Spanish-American war tax....after 108 years.

Ouch. Withholding is kind of sneaky on one hand but it's never any fun to get a great big bill at the end of the year.

I did really, really well a couple of years and the first year was the year of the Bush I tax hike. When I got the bill it was like being punched in the belly. I actually had to sit down it hit me so hard.

Nor did I have it, it is a bad, bad feeling, no question.

I'm self employed so I get to pay both parts.

I feel so special.

I got hammered a little bit more than usual this year, too. I haven't looked, I wonder if there was some kind of special stimulus tax break last year or something.

Regardless for someone that didn't make squat this year I don't understand. Oh well.
