Every time I run through PC PitStop's tests I get the result that the IE Cache is overflowing. IE Cache Overflow has 9 mg instead of the 8mg maximum which I have it set at. They give the proceedure to clean it up but - Quote:You should see a series of four folders with random eight-character names like ADOZMZS1. Go into each folder and delete all the files they contain. Do not delete the folders.
When I go into it I have 16 such folders. Should/can I clean them all out or maybe create new folders with the same names and rename the present ones?? I haven't worried about it because I didn't think 1 mg is very much but in the IE Cache I don't know how much difference it would make. |

Ed, Don't know why they have that at pitstop. And I can't remember why they have all those extra folders...I've heard everthing for backup/security to it's MS spying. However...8 or 9 doesn't seem very much. I have mine set at 40MB...sometimes it gets bigger. Can't say it seems to faze XP. |

Don't remember where I read it (maybe PitStop) but read somewhere that placing the limit at that capacity would help enhance performance. |

They have that suggestion at pitstop and probably a thousand other web sites. HeeHee But I have to question how much it applies to XP installed on newer, bigger, and much faster computers. And today's content available on the web...lots of graphics, shockwave flash, games, etal. That patriotic flash file alone is 3.27 MB in size. |
